About the charity

The 4 founders met at the IUT of Tours during their professional degree in "scientific mediation and environmental education". Once their degree validated, Claire Gouari founded the  "AnimaSciences" charity and Marion Carcelen founded "Esprit Nature" charity. However, they wish to put their common knowledge to good use in order to widen their fields of action. It is with the help of Anne-Lise Desnoyer and Lilian Moimeaux, that they create together the charity "ArboréSciences" on January 13, 2014.

The charity's main mission

The values that the charity advocates through its various workshops are share, teaching and ecology. Arborésciences intervenes mainly with children and teenagers directly in schools, leisure centers or on stands during public events. The structure acts through interventions dedicated to the training, or by animating workshops around sciences and environment. We are going of the association, "Green Break" for the schools of the city of Tours.

Arboresciences' project

What if "Green break" was the next project, 100% funded by Retreeb thanks to you?

The "Green break" project was launched as part of the "Nature en ville" and "Écoles en transition" plans, as part of the redevelopment and greening of the City of Tours school yards. "Green break" is a project related to current environmental issues.

Launched in 2021, the "Green break" project aims to restructure school classes to help young students to have a stronger connection to nature. The association aims to accompany them in the appropriation of their new playground. This project is conducted during the whole year with students and staff of the City of Tours. In 2022, the project will be carried out at the André Gide and Stéphane Pitard schools and will involve approximately 550 children aged 6 to 11 with a total of 22 classes involved.

The measures put in place by the association allow the students to be aware of the environment that surrounds them, but also to have an appropriate behavior towards their environment. Each class benefits from 2 half-day animations on one of the following themes.

  • Ecological vegetable garden
  • Sensory ecological garden
  • Birds and macrofauna
  • Insects and small animals
  • Amenities "living well together outside"

Thanks to the use of collaborative and democratic tools (suggestions, debates and votes at each stage of the project) and pedagogical activities, all the actors of the school, children and adults can contribute to imagine and adapt the new living environment. A resource booklet of the actors, activities and territory (natural spaces in the vicinity in particular) is given to the teachers, in order to continue the project, even after the last intervention.

A word from Retreeb

This project responds to an educational and environmental challenge. We believe that by teaching good practices from a young age we are helping to create more responsible citizens for the planet, it also allows kids to learn how to use different tools for a good reason. The values of sharing and transmission are in correlation with Retreeb's purpose. This is why we wish to propose this project to our community.
